After landing on the island, you can pick up your rental car at the airport offices where your flight landed, in Tenerife North or Tenerife South, and start your family vacation. For today, nothing better than arriving at your resort, getting comfortable and resting in your hotel with a swimming pool.
If you have never traveled to Tenerife, you cannot miss a visit to the El Teide National Park. I am sure that the little ones in the house love to go up by cable car to a volcano! Our recommendation is that you go in the morning and go up the cable car to see the views from above. Tenerife is an island with strong winds, so on some occasions, access to the cable car can be closed for safety reasons. Therefore, it is better to prioritize the visit to Teide and start your route by car around the island here, knowing that, if the weather conditions are not ideal, you can return another day during your vacation to enjoy this volcano and its amazing viewpoint. at 3,555 meters high from where you can see, if the weather allows it, four other Canary Islands: Gran Canaria, La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera. Before the climb to Mount Teide, you can stop at Las Cañadas del Teide, a volcanic landscape that seems from another planet.
In the afternoon, after lunch, is a good time to visit Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Once you arrive in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, start touring its urban center contemplating the exterior of the Auditorium, the work of the architect Calatrava, and strolling down Calle Castillo, the shopping street, to end with a dip in one of the best valued beaches on the island: la Playa de las Teresitas. This beach has several dikes that protect it from the waves, making it an ideal beach to go with children. To end the day, nothing better than enjoying your hotel. Tenerife is to enjoy!
If you want to crown the highest peak in Spain and climb to the crater of Teide, you will have to do it on foot. It is the only option. To do this, you have to request a special permit at least three months before your trip. This permit is free and you have to request it on the National Park Reserves website. The reason for this requirement is to preserve the ecosystem and natural landscape by limiting visits to 200 people per day. The walk to the top is about 40-60 minutes. Children over 6 years old can also climb as long as they are accustomed to walking and hiking as there are some stretches with quite a slope. If you book with Nativics well in advance, we take care of managing your permit at no additional cost as long as there are places at the time of confirming the reservation.
Today may be a good day to visit La Laguna and its historic center declared a World Heritage Site. Do not miss the cathedral and its bell tower, the La Laguna market, the Plaza del Adelantado, the Nava palace and the Santa Catalina de Siena monastery. If lunchtime is approaching, the ideal is that, taking advantage of the fact that you are in the north of the island, you stop to have lunch at a guachinche (traditional Canarian food house). These restaurants are the most traditional on the island and the cheapest, so you will live an authentic experience since they are not tourist establishments or with great luxuries. Do not leave without eating in a guachinche!
In the afternoon, if you want to do some more sightseeing, you can go to Puerto de la Cruz, a city full of life, history, shops, bars and where is the famous Lago Martiánez, a complex of artificial lakes designed by the Canarian architect César Manrique. If you travel with children, it is a good option to soak in front of the sea but with the security of being in artificial lakes without tides or waves.
Aguachinche is a place where traditional Canarian food is served, although its main objective is to sell its own-produced wine, which is why they are not open all year. Legally, they are only allowed to open during the wine harvest, from November until the wine runs out and they reopen in April.
The guachinches are not typical restaurants, with nice decoration and sea views. In fact, if you see one like this, you are not in an authentic guachinche so... run away! A guachinche is the most homemade thing you can find in Tenerife, so they can be installed in garages, living rooms or patios of private homes and the tables and chairs can be of all shapes and colors. Of course, do not be fooled by appearances, the guachinches are the most lively eating houses that have really traditional dishes and at very cheap prices. Without a doubt, the most authentic experience you can live in Tenerife. But beware! These food houses are not found everywhere, only in the north of the island, especially in Tacoronte, La Orotava, Los Realejos and El Sauzal. You will know that you are in an authentic guachinche if there is a handwritten sign at the entrance that says "guachinche", if there is no written menu or letter - at most you will only see a blackboard with some written dishes and four or five options to choose from - and everyone has wine at their table. In the north of the island there are 60 guachinches, in the south, none and fewer in Costa Adeje or Playa de las Américas. Don't let them fool you!
Typical dishes that are cooked in guachinches: fiesta meat (pieces of marinated pork), meat goat, ribs with potatoes, rabbit salmorejo, wrinkled potatoes with mojo sauce and stew.
Although there are several options, near the Plaza del Adelantado there is a large paying car park: the Las Quinteras car park. It is a guarded outdoor car park with a really cheap price so, if you can't find a place, you will avoid wasting time going around to park.
Today you will have a great time visiting Loro Parque, the zoo considered the best in the world and which has several awards and certifications for its commitment to the conservation of species. This large complex is located in Puerto de la Cruz and has 13 hectares of tropical plants and more than 400 species of animals, including the largest group of parrots in the world, California sea lions, sharks, gorillas, penguins, dolphins , orcas... You will surely enjoy the different shows and exhibitions such as the parrot, killer whale and sea lion shows, the world's largest penguin colony, the aquarium and the shark tunnel. The smallest of the family can also have fun in Kinderlandia.
Today's first stop could be Icod de los Vinos, a beautiful municipality located in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, famous for hosting the Millennium Dragon Tree, a tree that is believed to be around a thousand years old and that is a symbol of the island. In addition to the Drago Milenario, Icod de los Vinos has a great wine culture - hence its name - and a historic center declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC). Among its places of interest you will find the church of San Marcos, the Plaza Andrés de Lorenzo Cáceres, the Cueva del viento, the Plaza de la Pila, the convent of San Francisco, the Emeterio Gutiérrez Albelo House-Museum, the church of San Agustín, the Casa de los Cáceres, the hermitage of San Antonio de Padua and the hermitage of Las Angustias. If you are looking for a place to eat, in Icod de los Vinos you can sit down in one of its restaurants and guachinches where you can taste homemade Canarian food.
In the afternoon, very close to Icod, a 15-minute drive car, you will arrive at Garachico and its natural pools, El Caletón. Here you can take a bath or simply enjoy the fantastic views of the sea and the castle of San Miguel.
The Millennium Dragon Tree is a huge specimen of Dracaena Draco, a woody herbaceous plant declared a National Monument in 1917. The reason for its fame is that this Drago Milenario is the largest and longest-lived dragon tree known in the world. It measures about 18 meters high and has a cup diameter of approximately 20 meters. His age is not known exactly but it is estimated that he could be between 700 and 900 years old. A true jewel and symbol of Icod de los Vinos that you cannot miss on your car route through Tenerife.
Today it's time to have fun and cool off in the largest water park in Europe: Siam Park. This water park is located in Costa Adeje, in the south of Tenerife and is considered the best theme water park in the world. Set in Thailand, in ancient Siam, it has 185,000 m² of impressive gardens and a large number of attractions and water slides where you will find from more relaxed attractions, such as the lazy river and attractions where your adrenaline will rise, such as the Dragon, the zero gravity slide, the Jungle Snake or the Naga Racer, without forgetting that the pool with the largest artificial wave in the world is located in Siam Park. The children of the house will not want to leave The Lost City and The Wave Palace, the most popular attractions among children. If you are traveling with babies, Siam Park will also have its space in the Baby Zone, a place adapted to their characteristics. And to relax between slide and slide, nothing better than doing it in the relaxation area at Siam Beach, where you can sunbathe or have a snack on the white sand beach and turquoise water of the park. And the best of all? This water park is open every day, 365 days a year, since the warm temperatures of Tenerife allow it. Summer all year!

If this is your last day, take advantage of your last hours in Tenerife to enjoy your resort, bearing in mind that you must be at the airport at least 2 hours before to return the rental car and go through the security control where, in high season, waiting time may be longer.
Before leaving your hotel, make sure to check the airport where your flight departs from on your ticket, as there are two airports on the island: Tenerife South Airport, known as Reina Sofía, and Tenerife North Airport ( The Rodeos). They are located at different points in Tenerife, so it is important not to get confused if we do not want to arrive late or miss the flight.
