Palma Cathedral and its light show
Palma Cathedral is also known as the Cathedral of Light. The reason is that, twice a year, through the entrance of the sun, the circle of colors of the larger rose window is reflected just below the smaller rose window, forming a huge eight of light on the wall of the temple. It is what is known in Mallorca as "el vuit de la Seu" (the eight of the Seo). This phenomenon occurs on February 2 and November 11 between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. and lasts only a few minutes as the circle rotates like clock hands until it disappears. It is easy to remember: 2/2 and 11/11. In addition, it coincides with the festival of Candelaria and San Martín, respectively. Quite a spectacle that very few have the privilege of contemplating and that never fails.

The busiest areas for lunch and dinner are the Paseo Mallorca, la Lonja, the Paseo Marítimo and the lively area of Santa Catalina, the place par excellence of the afternoon or, what is the same, start the drinks and the march in the afternoon, after eating.

Traditional food ;such as arròs brut, fried Majorcan, snails and tumbet. You can taste these dishes at Celler Sa Premsa, Casa Julio or Restaurante Millor.
Pa amb oli. It consists of several slices of Majorcan bread with local sausages: cheese , sobrassada, camaiot, serrano ham...
Ensaïmada, coca de trampó, cocarrois, Rubiols and crespells. You will find them in any Majorcan patisserie. Ideal to take a bit of Mallorca home with you.

Tips for your trip to Mallorca
If you just want to get to know the city of Palma, you won't need anything else since your hotel is in the center of the city, close to the main places of interest, bars and restaurants.
If you want to move around the island to get to know other towns, villages or beaches, it is better to do it by car since transport between municipalities does not work regularly. You can either come by ferry with your car or rent it on the island. Whichever option you choose, we can help you. You just have to contact us and we will organize your tailor-made trip to Mallorca.
If you don't travel by car, you can get to your hotel in different ways:
How to get from Palma de Mallorca airport to your hotel in the center from the city?
- By bus. The line is A1. This option is the cheapest and works quite well. It is active all year round and its average frequency is 10 minutes. In about 45 minutes you will have reached the city center. The ticket is €5 each way if you are not a resident.
- By taxi. This option is more expensive than taking public transport but it is faster. When leaving the airport you will see the taxi area clearly marked. The drawback is that, if you travel in summer or Easter, the queue may be long and you have to wait your turn. The rate is not fixed as it depends on the time, accessories, luggage, traffic... Normally it is never less than €20 each way.
- Transfers arranged with Nativics. This is the most comfortable and easiest option since a driver will pick you up at the airport at the agreed time and take you to your hotel. If you want to contract this option, do not hesitate to contact us to include the transfers from the airport to Palma and from Palma to the airport, to your trip to Mallorca.
