Car route through Asturias in 10 days

To end your first day in Oviedo, enjoy a delicious dinner at one of the local restaurants. Try some typical Asturian dishes, such as fabada, cachopo or Cabrales cheese, and discover the unique flavors of the region's gastronomy.

Oviedo is a city with a rich history, which combines its royal, Jacobean, monastic, legendary, modern and welcoming character. This city has it all and is easy to get around on foot. Enjoy its green areas such as the Campo de San Francisco, and visit its impressive historic center, where the Cathedral of San Salvador stands out, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which houses the Holy Shroud in its Holy Chamber. The heart of the city is located in the elegant Plaza de Alfonso II el Casto and its surroundings.

Continue your visit by exploring the pre-Romanesque fountain of Foncalada and the churches of Santa María del Naranco and San Miguel de Lillo , also World Heritage. Don't miss the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Fontán Market and the San Pelayo monastery. We start the day leaving Oviedo towards Cabo de Peñas, about 45 minutes by car. Along the way, you can stop in Candás, a charming fishing village with a pleasant promenade, and Luanco, a fishing village with a charming historic center, including the Clock Tower, a seaside church, and the Maritime Museum. Then, we head to the northernmost point of Asturias: Cabo de Peñas. This place offers an impressive landscape with high and steep cliffs and islets that defy the rough sea, providing a unique panoramic view.

After capturing countless photos of this spectacular natural reserve, we continue towards Avilés, about 30 minutes away. by car.

Upon arriving in Avilés, you go to the hotel to check-in and leave your luggage. If you need to rest a little after the trip, you can take the opportunity to relax at the hotel before going out to explore the charming city of Avilés.

After recharging your batteries with a delicious breakfast, head towards Cudillero, a picturesque fishing village located about 40 kilometers from your current location.

This picturesque coastal town is full of colorful houses that rise above one another. others, creating a unique image. Don't miss the impressive views of the town and the sea from the lighthouse or the Mirador de la Atalaya, or the "amphitheater" formed by some houses around the square, resembling a colossal theater. We leave Cudillero in the direction of Cangas de Onís, enjoying the picturesque Asturian landscape along the way. Start your day in Cangas de Onís by visiting the emblematic Roman Bridge, symbol of the city and declared a Historical-Artistic Monument. Stroll across the bridge and enjoy the views of the Sella River. 

Spend the afternoon exploring the charming historic center of Cangas de Onís. Visit the Church of Santa María, the Market Square and visit the stalls selling typical Asturian products.

Start your day in Cangas de Onís and head towards Covadonga, a short but scenic drive through the Asturian mountains. Visit the Sanctuary of Covadonga, a sacred and symbolic place for Asturians. Explore the basilica and the Holy Cave, where the Virgin of Covadonga, patron saint of Asturias, is located. Once in Los Lagos, take the opportunity to take one of the hiking routes that offer spectacular views of the lakes and surrounding peaks. Don't miss the Mirador del Rey, from where you can get an impressive panoramic view. Enjoy a picnic in nature and relax by the lakes, breathing in the fresh mountain air and enjoying the natural surroundings. After a day full of nature and culture, head back to Cangas de Onís, enjoying the panoramic views on the way back.

After visiting Cangas de Onís in its entirety, we head towards Llanes. Head towards the coast and stop at the stunning Gulpiyuri Beach, a small and unique saltwater beach located inland. Afterwards, continue on your way to Llanes, a charming coastal town known for its beautiful old town, white sand beaches and impressive cliffs. In Llanes, you can stroll through its picturesque port, visit the church of Santa María del Conceyu and enjoy the delicious local cuisine in one of its restaurants.

Start your day leaving Llanes towards Ribadesella. The car trip takes approximately 30 minutes. Once in Ribadesella, explore this charming coastal town. Stroll along its beautiful promenade, have a cider on a terrace while admiring the views of the mouth of the Sella River. Don't miss the Puente de la Villa, a medieval bridge that crosses the river and offers spectacular views.
